More information on Caring For Your Border Terrier
Border Terriers are basically very social animals and interact well with
other dogs. However never trust them with rabbits, birds, hamsters or
any other variety of small animals. These terriers will adapt to having
a cat as long as it’s in the house. Stray cats on the other hand or even
the next door neighbor’s cat will learn very soon that the next door
Border Terrier is not the best friend. Border Terriers will chase
anything, cars, small animals anything that moves. Yet another reason to
keep your yard fenced in.
As for grooming your dog less is best. By
not grooming as much as you would any other breed they will keep that
natural look. This is not a fussy dog like say a collie or a poodle. A
Border Terrier only needs a bath when absolutely necessary. These
terriers never shed if they do it is very rare. Brush their coats about
once a week and take your terrier to get groomed about every six months
or so.
Border Terriers are big eaters and love to eat. Try not to feed them
people food however for a treat try giving them vegetables and other
foods low in calories. Border Terriers also need a lot of exercise
regularly. Remember they are natural born hunters. However these dogs
are just as content to stay inside and lead rather inactive lives.
However if you don’t let them run and play they can get unhappy quickly.
Border Terriers are very stubborn so if they stay inside for weeks and
weeks at a time you should take them out for exercise on the weekends.
However, keep your eye on them they are stubborn as was already
mentioned. They could very well run from you and completely tune you out
when you call them back. Learn more about the proper care of Border
Terriers in your local library or research online just search under
